Key fact: goods and services trade only 1/5th of US economy in 1980. Now it's one-third.
Other key data:
- US outward FDI stock 13% of GDP in 1990 and 33% now.
- Inward is 9% in 1990 and 24% now.
- So combined = 22% of GDP in 1990 and 57% now.
We also have the highest percentage of foreign born citizens since 1920.
