Double duh on Darfur

IDEAS & TRENDS: “Why Darfur Still Bleeds,” by Neil MacFarquhar, New York Times, 13 July 2008, p. WK5.
Call-out text solves the entire mystery: “Peacekeepers face tough logistics. And there’s no peace to keep.”
No America, no logistics and no warfighters to make the initial peace possible.

While attending classes at the University, when I ask "OK, how many of you are willing to join in this important mission, will sign up to go fight and die in places like Darfur and Somolia, will encourage your sons and daughers to do so, and will pay the monetary costs necessary?" -- I find few takers.
But they are enthusiastic about the mission (as long as they do not have to go and as long as they do not have to pay for it) -- and they are enthusiastic about having someone else go and pay (preferably from some other country).
If the mission is crucial, then leadership is equally crucial. This will be understod when advocates and the elite of this and other Old Core nations -- and their son's and daughters -- volunteer, go strap on the body armor and pull out their checkbooks.
