Time's Battleland: (CYBER) New Air Force Mission: Cyberwar Belongs to Us

The Wall Street Journal noted last Friday about how the “Pentagon digs in on cyberwar front.” Bit misleading, as it’s really the Air Force that’s desperate to corner that market. You know the general story of Big War Blue (Navy, Air Force) feeling disrespected and underfunded across the “war on terror” era, and you’ve been treated ad nauseum to their budgetary counter-revolution in the form of the AirSea Battle Concept (whose combined Air-Navy motto should be: “It’s China’s turn — as well as ours!”).

Those drones are scaring the hell out of a lot of old pilots. No need for an "officer" to sit in a trailer sipping Sprite while watching a video screen. Enlisted ranks can do that job. They can even wear white scarves and goggles while they do it. GPS guided artillery shells are very accurate and can cut the need for close air ground support. Cruise missiles can be launched from ships, subs and even distant bombers. Very accurate and no chance of pilots being shot down and captured. The Air Force is looking for work...just like the submarine fleet when the Cold War fizzled.

Right now there are too many overlapping projects. Both in the military and that monster of bureaucratic monsters...Homeland Security. I am sick of looking at people sitting in front of computer screens and giant monitors. You kill your enemies with high explosives and bullets not software.
