Cancer to go global - along with globalization and the rising income reality it creates

From FT story about advances in cancer treatment.
Me? I see a fairly scary map that says higher cancer frequency is sure to spread rapidly over next couple of decades as massive global middle class comes online in emerging and developing markets.
What this map tells me is high rates of cancer come with economic advance, meaning we're looking at a vast global industry within a generation.

My hypothesis (WAG): Developed societies see increases in cancer rates when they're able to prevent (e.g. with clean water) or treat (e.g. with statins) the 'easy causes of death.'
I'm sure this has been studied, does anyone know of work that (dis)proves this?
Heart disease and cancer are positively correlated with animal consumption. Heart disease is nonexistent in portions of the world without the typical western diet. The world will get these two diseases as they adopt our diet. The way to make a dent in these is to go vegan. Much cheaper than chemo, open heart surgery, stents.
Public policy implication: decrease cholesterol guideline from 200 to 150.
Free market guideline: charge meat eaters more for their health insurance, as is done with tobacco consumers.
