Arizona: The right experiment to run

Best thing about America is that we’ve got 50 simultaneous experiments in government going on, with people able to vote with their votes, their feet, their checking accounts, etc.
Arizona wants to change the paradigm on enforcement of legal alien laws, and in doing so, they’ll definitely scare off a lot of Latinos, in addition to taking various degrees of heat.
But it’s a good experiment to run, because if it works, and AZ likes it that way, the ideas will spread. And if it doesn’t or costs too much, then AZ will be made to pay in various ways.
But at least the state is trying, however imperfectly, and that’s how it’s supposed to work.
But yes, I’d love to have more than 50 experiments running, including some all-Mexican ones. Time to open up this HOA, because this gate community thing ain’t working.

There already is an all-Mexican experiment: Mexico. We know how that's working out.
I am giving myself a pat on the back here because unlike most people, I actually read the new Arizona law. I will cut to the chase. It does not work unless the United States Government cooperates. The State of Arizona cannot deport anyone. No state can deport anyone. Only the Federal Government has that authority. So Arizona's deputy sheriffs and police officers can round up every illegal alien they can find...thousands of them...and there is nothing they can do with them except try to turn them over to a Federal agency. Peace Officers of the State of Arizona cannot force anyone, legal or illegal, to leave the country.
The Arizona state legislature knew that when it passed the law. It also wrote the law so that it does not provide any incarceration for the illegal alien in a state facility simply for being illegal. The politicians knew that the citizens of Arizona would not appreciate a law that required them to feed, clothe, and house all the illegal aliens taken into custody.
So the eventual political showdown will occur when a bus load of illegals, guarded by shotgun toting deputies, shows up at the Federal building in Phoenix and the deputies try to hand the illegals over to the folks at ICE or FBI or DEA or the Marine Corps recruiter.
Balls in your court Mr. President.

It’s not rocket science. It’s not something scripted by shadowy Leftist Special Interest groups in the dark of night like Obamacare. Immigration’s even in the Constitution, you know, that document written by those old dead white men on which Obama and his Chicago thug administration continue to wipe their behinds. It’s not thousands of pages, not even 20 pages yet the Leftist open borders crowd hasn’t read it yet, and is trying so hard to twist those words beyond recognition. Oh, and yes, they will even lie.
As a Son, Brother, Uncle, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Small Businessman, I look at these attempts to distort, as a threat to my Family and my business’s safety. I see every effort by the fast disappearing (in physical size as well as circulation), financially troubled Arizona Republic’s, Leftist editorial board, who daily support bizarre nonsense, based on fuzzy concepts, misrepresentation, and out and out LIES, misrepresenting SB1070. They will be the losers. The people are tired of their 3-day-old news and Leftist Night soil of a male bovine. We know better. We even know that they know better (there is YouTube, Google and Lexis-Nexis to see how often in the past, they disagreed with their current positions).
Why this guy must be a racist, you say? Don’t even try. I marched for Civil Rights in the 60’s; most of those who spit on us then were Democrats. They still have a dottering old Senator who was a Grand Kleagle or some such with the KKK. After participating in 2 marches with him (way near the back), I finally got to meet Martin Luther King, Jr. after his speech on January 19, 1968, to a crowd of over 7,000 in Ahearn Field House on the campus of Kansas State University.
No, Don’t you dare call me a racist, when the media supports illegal immigration and its attendant crimes, mostly against illegal immigrants. I’ve seen the results of these activities. Illegal immigrants can be nice people, but those are the ones the not-so-nice illegals hide amongst and terrorize most. Are we talking jay walking-type misdemeanors? No, lets see, Murders, Rapes, Human Smuggling, Drug Smuggling, Assaults, Kidnapping, Drive-by shootings, Robbery, burglary, Identity Theft, Domestic violence and DUIs are rampant. The mere fact that they’re here illegally, makes the many, forced participants in this madness.
The real questions that should be asked, is what do the open border-pro-illegal alien race hustler/poverty pimps that oppose closing the borders stand to gain from their “own people’s” misery? Why would they (illegals) want this for themselves and their families? Why would American citizens of Mexican descent want to bring this into their country (USA) and have their families at risk? The truth is they don’t. What do they have to gain? Absolutely nothing. Maybe it’s their own immediate safety, that’s at risk and under criminal threat. The media’s knee jerk reaction along with these self-appointed “Hispanic Race Hustling Poverty Pimps who the Republic calls Leaders”, play right into the cartel’s hands.
The media is quick to point out that our lettuce will cost more, restaurants will charge more and so labor will cost more. Really, how cynically and hypocritically engaged in profiling, can you get? The Sports, Entertainment, Media and Political elites live in their gated, guarded Palaces, far from the real world the rest of us “the great unwashed” inhabit. These Neo-Colonial feudal Princes and Princesses like their servants and having a permanent underclass. Besides, these “Stars” can fly in on their jets, dump their load of Pontificating Crap on the Citizens, and fly off to their safe havens. They aren’t exposed to gunfire from crime transactions gone bad. Their children aren’t shot in their cribs. Besides, if one pays attention to the “Media”, the “Stars” need to get home to the drugs they buy that contribute to whole drug problem. Can you say hypocrite? The pompous asses deserve to be called worse.
We may truly, as some have said, import our ignorance and poverty, but at what cost? Significant educational expenses burn up and drive up taxes spent on education. Who pays for that? The Leftists say the money comes from the State or Federal government, but where do they get it? From us, of course. Same with Emergency and Health Care, same with the cost of incarceration of the above mentioned criminals.
Which gets me back to why I believe in closing and controlling our borders. It’s not racism, not hatred for minorities, but concern for a couple of half Scotch-Irish, Dutch, Polish, English, French, Spanish; half Mexican-American Grandbabies, their Dad and Mom (my lovely and smart Mexican-American Daughter-in-Law), my wife, my sister and my 87 year old Mom. These are the ones The Constitution and the very ones sworn to protect and defend it, are to attend to first, inside our borders.
They, both Republicans and Democrats have failed us. People are already tired of the “Progressive” status quo. Representatives and Senators who don’t read the bills for which they vote, who insult the very people they are supposed to serve, and ignore them, whether an ( R ) or ( D ) follows their name, should prepare their resumes, for come November, doing everything possible to protect my family, I will vote and campaign against every last one of these arrogant feudal Princes and Princesses. Betraying the people’s trust is a serious offense. May they all have long lives and be scorned, shamed, ridiculed and spit on till the end of their days.

Perfectly fine to complain and to cite your past to provide context.
But my counter is to say you're simply scaling the sin you deplore.
You condemn fly-over elites but then argue--in effect--that we should play the same role in our hemisphere: we should stay rich and they should stay put.
My sense of reality in a globalized world: we either make 'em rich where they live or they come live with us.
God won't have it any other way.

We can't take the entire world's poor within our boarder; we will not remain a first world country. We need a functioning fence and figure out what to do after it is built.
Mexico is the problem that is getting worse by the day. We need a Mexico Project that will address the core problem. What the project entails is beyond my knowledge base but the concept of a fence is easy to understand and is effective. That is where the Mexico Project should start.

My first thought here was "Finally, a state figures out how to create an unfunded mandate for the Feds instead of the other way around!"
