'All in' in AfPak, but we need some financial assistance

Perfectly fine description of why the U.S. must remain "all in" on COIN in AfPak.

But, as with all such U.S.-centric explanations, it stops there and doesn't raise any issues about eliciting allied help beyond NATO.

In the end, without that, we're just stretching out the loss--and the pain.

Tom,Is there any dialogue at all with China or India re: troops for AfPac?I realize India might be difficult, but some type of leverage with their assets to augment the AfPac mission?

It seems like Brooks' worst-case scenario is the only one that justifies such a massive effort on national security grounds. Otherwise, we could probably save more lives with an anti-smoking campaign.
