Making India happy over Pakistan

ASIA: "India and Pakistan: Sharm offensive; The prime ministers meet to talk about restoring peace talks," The Economist, 18 July 2009.
Both sides have just enough sensible people to keep this dialogue moving, despite the Mumbai attacks and India's sense that Pakistan hasn't done enough in response (debatable). No question about India's restraint since--quite admirable.
Story talks about a sensible idea that Musharraf had pushed: a "soft border" on Kashmir around which Kashmiris on both sides would enjoy a certain level of autonomy in both states.
To me, this is the package that will inevitably come about at some point with the Pashtun between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Musharraf was no fool.
