I get sent this Gapminder stuff by people every so often. The charts are cool.
Here, you can see the Great Divergence (West and Rest) starting in 1800 and the beginnings of the Great Convergence since globalization takes off.
Note: the more markets spread, the more quickly wealth accumulates and lives lengthen.
Ah, but of course, all that 27-global economic boom was a sham and a lie, as some of us so confidently realize now . . .
But then again, some people like to stick their heads in that warm, moist, familiar place.
