WORLD NEWS: "China Frees Accused Woman After Protests Online," by Loretta Chao, Wall Street Journal, 17 June 2009.

The 21-year-old waitress who stabs to death a Communist Party official who basically sought to rape her.

She gets arrested and would have dissolved into the nothingness, if not for the Net.

Thanks to the resulting online furor, the government releases her without charges.

Globalization's radical influence through connectivity is the same the world over: women cannot be treated in the same old, same old.

Great stuff. Can't wait for the made-for-TV movie.
