If you think about it, Communists and KMT have converged. Communists started out as ideological leftist fanatics, ended up as authoritarian nationalists running a pro-business oligarchy. The KMT started out as authoritarian nationalists running the economy on cronyism, and have pretty much stayed that way, though it did allow democracy on Taiwan, largely to keep the USA alliance strong. There is a lot less difference between them than there once was.

This ruins everything!! How are we supposed to plan for a big war against China to defend Taiwan when China's leaders are meeting with Taiwan's leaders? ;)
