A perfect globalization quartet of headlines across two pages

WORLD NEWS: "Claim of Afghan Civilian Deaths Cloud U.S. Talks," by Yochi J. Dreazen and Peter Spiegel, p. A10.

"Bloggers' Rights Derail EU Telecom Overhaul," by John W. Miller, p. A10.

"China Revamps Data To Boost Credibility," by Andrew Batson, p. A11.

"U.S. Abandons Roquefort Threat," by Matthew Dalton, p. A11, Wall Street Journal, 7 May 2009.

You've got civilian deaths (war in the context of everything else), super-empowered bloggers challenging new rules, China getting more transparent due to external pressures, and America walking away from a trade fight over blue cheese.

What a world! What a world!

It's wide known that the Afghans bury their dead immediately, so the lack of bodies to be found is not surprising. The last time we made them redig up their dead for a report, it was BAD. The civilian deaths were not our causing. You had TB murdering as many civilians as possible, while forcing them into buildings before the air strikes. The ICC report should vindicate us. Nationally, it may have bad implications, but regionally those in Farah and Bala Baluk know what happened. Like Badghis province, TB are overstepping and it could loosen their grip on another province in RC West.
