Adapting, mad as hell, but optimistic

About what you'd expect from a class one System Perturbation: the widespread impression that this changes everything.

Americans are good at changing lifestyles in response to environmental shifts, economic signals being quite obvious and strong.

Do they like it? Hell no.

But by rapidly adapting themselves to the altered circumstances, optimism is restored quickly.
