ARTICLE: 81st Brigade: Ugandan guards have 81st's back, Bt Scott Fontaine, (Tacoma) News Tribune, 03/19/09

Interesting sort of back-fill dynamic going on here: still private security, but not American, still moonlighting mil types, but from inside the Gap, so the money cost is low and yet the payoff for them is still high.

Seems pretty smart, and good training.

Thanks for the link. Here's a tidbit I couldn't get in that story because even though everyone apparently had heard of this story, no one with firsthand knowledge could confirm i:

A Ugandan soldier is working guard duty outside the MWR at Q-West last year. His buddy, another Ugandan who lives in the CHU next to him, approaches and says he forgot his ID. The guard tells him that he can't go in. His friend argues, basically using the, "Hey, c'mon, you know me" line. After a minute or so of this, the Ugandan without the ID decides he's just going to go in anyway.

The guard then flips the safety on his M-4 and shoots his friend in the leg. He knew the other guy wasn't a danger at all, but the rules are the rules.
