Cool idea on Cuba: Tear down our wall at Gitmo!

CUBA: "Tear Down This Wall: Instead of just closing the Guantanamo Bay detention center, how about if we throw the place wide open?" by Patrick Symmes, Newsweek, 20 April 2009.

Tear down the 17-mile wall and make Gitmo an American free-trade zone right inside Cuba! Let U.S. companies come there and employ Cuban labor.

In short, invade the place economically and aggressively with connectivity.

Frickin' brilliant.

Turn the spigot open and just watch the Castro bros freak out.

Had we opened trade with them the week after Kruschev "Blinked", Cuba would be just another American Tourist trap now, and would have become so probably 4-5 years after the embargo was dropped . .

Our trade is the best Ambassador there is for modifying governments . . as you continue to say . .

I too think this is a great idea. There needs to be a way to prevent illegal immigration from Gitmo to the US. Then we need to model the worker program that we invent at Gitmo to handle the Mexican problem, some how.

The only question, where to we put the bad guys? NIMB! I suspect that everybody and I mean everybody feels the same.
