"The United States is not going to make Afghanistan a "Protectorate" . . unquote . .
He has stated more than once that we will leave Afghanistan as soon as the Afghan Army and Police can maintain security within it's borders . . That being a decision the Administration will make, not the natives of Afghanistan.
If I'm getting mixed messages, then what of those in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kasmir, and other nations in the area that are or will be threatened by the Taliban . . ? Remembering, of course, that the Taliban is not so much a people, as an idea . . which, as far as we know, existed far before the advent of Islam . . Islam just gave it a name . .
