More water wars predictions

ARTICLE: The coming war for water, By Jason Overdorf, GlobalPost, September 21, 2009

Get used to seeing predictions of water wars. No one will tell you how a war will solve anything; they'll just predict them.

But notice how there's no "full-fledged wars" between Pakistan and India since both get nukes.

History says water sharing forces cooperation, not war, but these predictions will be most plentiful in the years ahead, swamping actual water disputes--a very different word than "war."

Water will never be a commodity on which wars will be waged. Argument, fights, negotiations, yes, but wars, absolutely not. Water is ubiquitous to the world, everyone has access to water, the question is only how much it costs to make it clean and drinkable. Most water (oceans) is undrinkable without massive infrastructure costs but those costs have an upper limit and that upper limit is always cheaper than the costs in blood and treasure as with war.

I wonder how much bank there is to be made with these over the top sky is falling predictions. They come out every now and then promising the end of the world, wars between neighbors over resources - at this rate me and my fellow New South Welshmen will be glad we brought Australia's SF operation over from Perth in Western Australia, they will be a boon when we covertly strike at our southern neighbors in Victoria over their water supplies.
