Looks like a scenario where US and Russia are literally forced to cooperate. The Americans are hemorrhaging $$$ in Iraq/Afghan while the cash spigot into Russia is closing with the collapse of oil prices.

The global economic environment is also very fertile for Obama to reach out to the Iranians...they're running out of cash needed to placate an increasingly restless citizenry.

It sucks when the economy tanks, but there is opportunity in every crisis....I hope Obama understands the great possibilities here.

My thoughts on the interview are in the queue: I think it's a nice new tack. De-escalating rhetoric is good.
