#6 is gone

Sad to hear Patrick McGoohan is dead.

I had just watched him in "Escape From Alcatraz" (he was tough warden to Clint's inmate). I also just rewatched the entire 17 episodes of "The Prisoner" while exercising. I have the entire series of "Secret Agent" (in UK: "Danger Man"), which I was saving for something. I think I'll turn to it next.

Always thought he deserved the Oscar for Longshanks ("Braveheart"), and lamented he never did any Star Trek.

He will be missed by me and mine.

You're forgetting one of his best roles, the Spy in "Ice Station Zebra". One of my all time favorite Cold War movies. McGoohan had some great lines in that one. First movie I remember that had a really cool nuclear sub in it. Now I work on the things for real. Supposedly, Howard Hughes watched the movie all the time.

Ice Station Zebra has always been one of my favorites. Just discovered 'The Prisoner' a few weeks ago on a retro channel, though I prefer sports or Colbert during a workout.

I heard that "The Prisoner" is #7 on someone's list of Cult TV hits. The commentator said, "Too bad it didn't get a couple more votes."

Visiting Portmerion (in Wales, a great trip) is kinda surrealistic, if you remember that TV show.

Could never understand why TPMB did not end up in The Village. I guess that's a sign of progress. Be seeing you.

AMC is currently streaming all 17 Prisoner episodes for free at their website

AMC will be showing the Prisoner remake with Ian McKellen as the only No. 2 . Having only one No. 2 is a problem for me. The original series brought a new No. 2 as antagonist for No. 6 every week.

In the '80's my brother edited McGoohan's daughter's wedding video. Over the course of twelve hours editing they had great chats about the Prisoner and the troubles they had in shooting the show. Using a white weather balloon as the deadly Rover was actually a last minute improvisation as a more elaborate robot contraption failed to work as planned. My brother remembers McGoohan as a " just a great guy, totally open and friendly."

Watching Patrick McGoohan & The Prisoner TV series has still stuck with me years after watching it. Every time I see a TV advertisement for The Villages in Ocala, FL, I'm looking for Rover floating across the golf course water traps.
