If you ever get a chance to take a ride in a B17 (there's a couple that tour around the country), do it. It's between $400 and $500 for a 20 minute ride, but it is simply awe inspiring.

I did mine in Aluminum Overcast, sponsored by the EAA. Great flight on a sunny day, piloted by guys who had been with the plane for 10 years. Sitting in the nose, thinking about being surrounded by 10,000 other B17's, nothing between me and the flak but that plexiglass....
