Think Progress on the Fallon piece

Think Progress was one of the first websites to link to the new article:

Bush May Fire CentCom Chief Adm. Fallon, Replace With Commander More ‘Pliable’ To War With Iran

Now, of course, it's trumped up a little bit, and the difference in opinion with President Bush is what everyone's highlighting, but that's the nature of the beast. You know what Oscar Wilde said ;-)

Two best things about this post:

1. embedded flash video of the mention yesterday in the White House press conference

2. this highlight:

According to Barnett’s piece, Fallon also denied ever calling Petraeus an “ass-kissing little chickenshit.” He called the allegations “[a]bsolute bullshit.”

The “ass-kissing little chickenshit” part was alleged by Gareth Porter back in September.

Great morale booster for the troops. Really motivates those lance corporals and sergeants to know that the folks with the stars on their shoulders can't agree on whether they should even be there.

Based upon the fact that, currently, the size of the Military creates a "Can't chew gum and walk" situation, there was a choice . . Petraes' "Surge" or send 'em to Afghanistan . . Congress demanded a "Political Solution" which, as Tom has stated and I agree, cannot occur without the first two steps . . Security and an economy . . given those the lawmakers will come . .

Thus . . Have a nice retirement, Adm Fallon . . again, a Military man learns that it's all politics once you get past grade O-5 . .

The real motivator for the lance corporals, sergeants and petty officers out there should be that while a majority of the policy makers are making decision from their offices in Washington D.C., Admiral Fallon is making his decisions based on hands-on experience. Ask his staff, the Admiral is getting up-close and personal with the many different nations in the middle east that will either directly contribute to, or directly cause a demise of any hopes the world has for peace and stability in the middle east.
