'War' between Israel and Hamas

ARTICLE: 'All-Out War' Declared on Hamas, By Griff Witte and Sudarsan Raghavan, Washington Post, December 30, 2008; Page A01

If Israel was going to do something to create new facts on the ground, better it was Hamas than Iran, because that's choosing the inevitable over the incredible.

What do you mean by "new facts on the ground"?

I think it means that Hamas is retarded - seriously. The official policy is not to recgonize Israel, and the "partner," the PLO, knows its arm from its ass on that issue. I think Israel wants to quash any hopes for Hama's war (cold and hot) of attrition. But Hamas is still the answer for many to the more corrupt (but more pragmatic) PLO.

More retarded stuff....when Hamas took over Gaza, they destroyed all the useful PLO equipment - well, at least that what the AP showed online.

And here's another little observation. If there was no Israel, the would be NO Palestine at all, because all the neighbors would have gobbled up Transjordan, and Abbas knows it.

Israel has also put their Defensive system on the line . . They have to win in Gaza, now. There's no going back.

Why? Hezbollah is watching closely . . and should Israel either compromise or stop short of a perceived victory, Northern Israel will become nothing more than an impact area . .

Israel has'nt learnt a bean from Lebanon. If Hamas continue to take it on the chin and keep lobbing over rockets ( where's the carrots for good behaviour?...Israel has sworn a policy of no carrots and just sticks...what kind of dialogue did they think Hamas would resort to if all they get is a cold shoulder , threats or military action or combo meal of any of the aforementioned). The narrative is in the hands of Hamas to conclude .I don't think the Gazans are going to see the hand of responsibility of Hamas in the F15's and civilian casualities. They could endure more and see this weak confection of left wingers exit at the polls.Israel did'nt need to go down this route. The re election of a weak Isreali government is usually when the body count NEEDS to go up ..and prop up those poll numbers.Hamas may not play ball and just keep taking losses. If they just save and lob a few over on the day the Parliament is informed that a victory of sorts has been achieved..the Left are out.Welcome back Netanyahu.Courtesy of Hamas.
