The rat bastard has to die someday

ARTICLE:
Mugabe a threat to unity, says US
, BBC, 21 December 2008

I don't expect we'll force any issue security-wise, but I would expect a full-court diplomatic press under Obama (not that Bush hasn't tried, just harder).

Surely a visit by a Predator/Hellfire would solve this problem?

It's kinda hard to say, I don't want to be a cheerleader for rascists . but this guy makes the Rhodesians look good, and they practiced apartheid. It's probable that there would have been less human suffering overall if the racists had been left in charge. Zimbabwe should be studied to determine a decent power handover ruleset. anything has got to be better than cholera and starvation because of idealism.

more like cronyist tyranny with a thin veneer of idealism. he and his aren't suffering from cholera and starvation.

Mugabe proves that it can always be worse than it is. He also proves that just because today's enemy is an obnoxious bastard, that the successor can be worse. He also proves that misplaced idealism can be just as harmful as leaving things alone, as bad as they are. A truly tragic tale.

Overall lesson: Look at each case carefully, and look at distinguishing facts, do not assess mainly in terms of categories.

John and Lexington have hit upon a conclusion that was reached by Paul Theroux in his book, "Dark Star Safari". It's an eye opening read written by a former Peace Corps volunteer who returns to Africa after 35 years. Many South Africans, both black and white, admit that things were much better under apartheid. Alvaro Varga Llosa claims that Mugabe is blaming all his problems on colonialism. Seriously.
