You know that bit I've often used about "50% off the top" from the world in the price for helping our new prez?

Taking Gitmo detainees is a huge and welcome example of how much the world wants us back.

While I’m not as “wowed” this potential gesture is certainly a lot cheaper (not to mention symbolic) than actually defending global security. Why don't we demonstrate how much we want them back by asking them to build or purchase enough heavy air transport so that they can participate in disaster relief that is commensurate with their wealth and moral posturing.

Forgive me for not remembering the details but I recall that the Indians were driven to purchase heavy air transport from the Russians because of U.S. short-sighted insistence on placing restrictions on India's nuclear development as a condition of sale.
