I can't remember the last time I visited the Boston Public Library, but I remember it as quite beautiful.

But the library I lived in across the late 1980s was Widener . . . a beast with a history all it's own.

Watched Bond film tonight: "You Only Live Twice" (fifth one, 1967). Watch it and see the entire first "Austin Powers" film for real.

there's no way i'm watching 'You Only Live Twice' again. watched it for the second time recently and, boy, was it painful! bad acting, bad story.

makes me feel even better about never watching 'Austin Powers' ;-)

I'm with Zen Tom, literally it seems, which is to say: I'm in Chicago and wondering why you won't be paying the city a visit. O' and for an in every way better than Austin Powers 60s spy homage check out OSS 117

When you're at the Boston (Bahstun) Public Library, make sure to look up at the murals painted by John Singer Sargeant.

Putnam skeds the tour and basically offers me the same package as they did back with PNM (the Boston-DC axis). BFA saw that reduced to just NYC-DC.

The difference this time is that I live within three hours' driving distance from Chicago, so if you have ideas about making something happen in Chicago in terms of a speaking venue, I'm all ears.

But absent that, the reality is that I'm not independently wealthy nor do I have the sort of dedicated machinery of a NYT columnist or CNN figure.

Any chance of you coming to Texas at some point on a future book tour?

Quite reasonable.

I'll put my thinking cap on and my ear to the ground over the next few months.
