Interesting piece that betrays simplistic portrayals of Russia's disconnectedness or lack of ambition regarding further connectedness. A rising great power in this era is necessarily a connecting one. That's the only way to truly amass power: connecting your supply (tail) to demand (dog).

Palin is just playing her part as the VP attack dog, now different than Biden. Its all theater, appealing to the tribal nature of voting Americans. Soundbytes, soundbytes, soundbytes, little substantive discourse. Its what our system has become unfortuntately.

The discussion of 'democracy' isn't often brought up in America... what is true democracy or is it a republic? Hmm...
