Big surprise! Chavez wants to be president-for-life

ARTICLE: "Chavez Expected to Propose Removing His Term Limits," by Simon Romero, New York Times, 15 August 2007, p. A6.

Socialism gets you dictatorship the vast majority of the time.

New words, same old crap from a caudillo whose main accomplishment is spending down his nation's oil wealth rapidly.

Remindes me of The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich Hayek (recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1974) and originally published in 1944. Classic Adam Smith vs. Karl Marx.

"In a country where the sole employer is the state, opposition means death by slow starvation. The old principle---who does not work shall not eat - has been replaced by a new one---who does not obey shall not eat." --L. Trotzky

It absolutely amazes me how cretins like Belafonte and Danny Glover and Sean Penn (who I don’t consider quite as bad as the other two, he at least defends his position) can say what they do about Bush, while giving Chavez not only a free pass, but jet fuel to burn and add to his propaganda machine. What is it about the far far left (as in Soviet style) that attracts “celebrities” in a way that the far far right (as in Nazi style) would NEVER be acceptable?
