Simply unsustainable

ARTICLE: National Guard deals with less equipment, BY DION LEFLER, The Wichita Eagle, May 8th, 2007

The right System Perturbation will inevitably come along and reveal the growing gaps.

This is a tertiary cost of not having enough allies in Iraq.

It’s safe to say that few in the media or government address theequipment or funding problem correctly. The money is there but its beingwasted on cronies. *

**

*There is some immediate action needed to correct this and liberatefunds for more and better equipment and even to fund more troops. *

1. *Clean up contracting procedure on all new contracts. No more nobid contracts. No more cost-plus a percentage of cost contracts. No more multi tier contracts, with cuts for do-nothing middle tiercontractors. *

2. *Subject all past and existing contracts to renegotiation. Thisclause existed was in my time as a standard government contractclause and made all USG contracts subject to renegotiation. Thisshould be employed in all of the three above type contracts thatwere let since the Iraq war began. Uncooperative contractors canbe terminated at the convenience of the Government, if thatstandard clause is still in USG contracts.*

*The money from whatever excess profit found or avoided can be used toproperly equip the troops in the field and the National Guard here.*
