Tom around the web: torpedoing 'WW3'

Many weblogs picked up Tom's WWIII is the wrong metaphor.

- ka1ogm who writes 'Barnett's stuff is worth reading, regardless of your politics (which I often find difficult to agree with). He's an in depth futurist and his credentials carry a lot of weight.'
- Amendment Nine who writes:
I took a little heat for a post of mine which criticised aspects of the Barnett hypothesis. All well and good, and from my view, enjoyable.
But let me laud Dr. Barnett as well from time to time. There is a "better" side of him in my opinion, one which sometimes gets lost in the seemingly frenetic shuffle he makes day to day.
This post of his is the better Barnett. Indeed, it is Barnett at his best.

So does this mean if Newt wins in '08...you wouldn't accept the cabinet post for "Secretary of the Department of Everything Else"
Not arguing the point the term WW III is not a correct use of the term.
Pointing out its darn hard to rally the troops never mind enlist the support of the people - if you cant "market" the conflict/conflicts. What term can you boil it down to? I believe the simple citizen (maybe not the political analyst) needs simplicity to the opposite degree of "war is bad" to support military ops in drawn out and far away lands. I think the x-speaker knows this.
I believe that was my point Robert...If we are going to realize a "future worth creating" - Dr Barnett needs to "dumb it down" for the rest of us.
We are losing (badly!) on the PR battlefield...whether it is the moderate Arab-street w/ 24hr access to Al-Arabyia or American TV programming that puts no context to the material presented.
Newt understands this and is trying as best he can to communicate to the viewer-ship of the "Today Show" the complexities of international/national security.
I don't care how many times you give "The Brief" to Matt Lauer...you still have to live in an intellectual reality...he doesn't understand the words that are coming out of your mouth!
