Development-in-a-Barrel: No help from West required

ARTICLE: "War in Sudan? Not Where the Oil Wealth Flows," by Jeffrey Gettleman, New York Times, 24 October 2006

SysAdmin sans America, skipping the military intervention. This is China's version of the pre-canned bankruptcy, and it works because it facilitates the Chinese model: externally connect and internally repress as desired.

This is the true system balancing response to America's perceived misguided use of its Leviathan.

And yeah, it's pretty effective.

My God. It kills me that we're still sanctioning Sudan, while China's already in on the ground floor. How ironic that we're the ones that profess to care about human rights. But hey, more power to China--Sudanese lives are improving, and that's what matters. I just think it's a shame we're abstaining (absurdly enough, on principle!) rather than contributing.

to the bushies its either: "you are with us or you are against us" and nothing in between

To get to the future worth fighting for, this binary mentality will have to go - we will have to navigate the complexities of the world and find the best paths to this worthwhile future.

The question is - in order to make an omelet you have to break a couple eggs - is the price of broken eggs acceptable?
