So good it would seem weird to me that it might not get any Oscar nods. I have long maintained that "1984" (with John Hurt and Richard Burton) was the best ever, but this one tops that by a ways. Extremely compelling, fantastic set design and production values. Great acting. You really care about the characters deeply and have no idea what's going to happen. I've long admired the director, Alfonzo Cuaron, since I saw his breakout film (Y tu mama tambien) with my wife at the Newport Film Festival (he also did the last and best "Harry Potter," so he impresses across many styles, like a Ridley Scott). Other than "The Departed," best thing I've seen all year.
