Israel wants it bad in Gaza, will likely get it bad in Iran

WORLD NEWS: "Fight May Bolster Iranian Hard-Liners and Ahmadinejad," by Chip Cummins and Roshanak Taghavi, Wall Street Journal, 5 January 2009.

When Israel cracks down like this, moderate states in the region look weak and the firebrands look tougher--same as it ever was. Thus the great utility in provoking Israeli kinetics.

To me, a logical move of the hard-liners in Iran as they approach the prez election: get Hamas to trigger something.

I think we all know that the US inauguration had more to do with the timing of this Israeli adventure then the Iranian one.Knee jerk reactions are not the Israeli style.This war was planned a long time ago.The ceasefire and its timing was only going to be when it was and we all knew that the small window between the lame ducks' exit and the inauguration had to be the only logical 'window' of opportunity for Israel.
